Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats has become one of the biggest names in the doom metal/occult rock genre in the last two years. They quickly became one of my favorite acts once I started listening to them. Their brand of creepy, Sabbath-esque doom sounds nothing short of delightful. Last September, I spoke with front man Kevin Starrs of Uncle Acid at the first stop on their first North American tour. When the opportunity for another interview came around, I could not pass it up. Spencer: Since your last record, you have opened for Black Sabbath and have had successful U.S. and European tours. Did you feel any pressure making this new album with your newfound popularity? Kevin Starrs: Not really. It’s one of those things where I always think it’s important to write for myself.
